The map covers the Iberian Peninsula, France and the Benelux, the British Isles, Central Europe, Italy, the Balkans and Greece, Scandinavia and Finland, the Baltics and Poland, Ukraine and Romania, and Iceland. Only Street View imagery from 2012 or later appears.
Clues that help
- Driving side: cars drive on the left in the UK and Ireland, on the right everywhere else.
- Licence plates: most EU plates have a blue strip with the country code on the left. Yellow plates appear in the Netherlands and at the rear in the UK.
- Script: Cyrillic points to Bulgaria, Serbia, North Macedonia or Ukraine, Greek letters to Greece.
- Special letters: å, ø and æ lead to Scandinavia, ł and ą to Poland, ő and ű to Hungary, ş and ţ to Romania.
- Bollards and signs: the white posts along the road look different in almost every country, and so does the colour of town signs.
- Landscape: olive groves and dry hills in the south, birches and lakes in the north, flat land in the Netherlands and northern Germany.
Scoring on this map
On the Europe map, about 400 kilometres off still scores about 1,900 points, 100 kilometres about 3,900. If your pin lands in the right country you get +500 points on top.
